I was detained and questioned by the FBI at LAX – Sydney Video

We will return to normal videos when I’m back in Aus. But, I thought it was important to explain in full what happened and what my experience was at LAX airport.

It was incredibly stressful and upsetting to have to deal with the situation.

Thank you everyone for your support. It means the world to me.

  1. Thank you everyone for your support. I realize that, objectively, this might not seem like a big deal. But, besides how emotionally taxing and stressful this was, it's really disconcerting that this all happened because a media organization complained about two journalists planning to hold them accountable. It's insane.

  2. LMAO, he was a member of the IDF…LIKE EVERY ISRAELI. bruh, the levels of stupidity on CCs part is astronomical. I wonder if the FBI treat Koreans the same.

  4. It's never fun to tangle with the police agencies. Especially when you have done nothing wrong. It makes you wonder how many innocent people they are harassing when there are real crimes to prevent/solve. I am glad they (the FBI) were at least polite/nice to you, I cannot say the same since they approached me as if I was committing a crime by sitting in my car.

  5. "were not criminals" How the F should the border control know? Because you say so? Lots of criminals are incredibly personable and suck in LEOs all the time. So why should they express humanness towards you (nice if they did, sure but you could be a criminal)? Who's to blame – how about Comedy Central for reporting you? They are the ones to blame. Why spend all this time bitching about people doing their jobs and doing it well? And the title of your video? Why not just say (CC gets us detained? and your friend kicked out of the country). As for keeping you in the dark, well that's the way police work works.

Yes, at the end of the video you try to say you're not blaming them, but in reality, you are.

  6. Your experience sounds like hell. I can't imagine that after a 15 hour flight (I can somewhat imagine it and obviously I don't want to put it on the same level as struggling with cancer or losing a loved one or being the victim of serious violence but I can imagine how bad I would feel if I were sleep deprived, jet lagged, just spent 15 hours on a plane already and the confusion, frustration and anxiety of that whole situation – especially as a strong introvert). I remember when I went to Michigan for university – I noticed that some of the immigration / airport workers were really rude. Not all of them, one guy stands out as having been really nice. I think they should treat everyone with empathy and respect by default, they'd have nothing to lose if they did. No one deserves otherwise and if someone really is a physical threat it could soften or shame them into reconsidering.

  8. You were targeted yes, but wrongly targeted. They can't do that. They knew before you hit the ground that they were not letting you in. We gotta say lawsuit here. False reports to the FBI is slander and defamation. The entertainment industry does not have the right to prohibit entry to the country. Pictures with guns does not justify them sending him home. What should have happened would have been background check and research. Are there any credible threats? The answer is no so they should not have denied entry. The airport guys are definitely not the southern border guys. Avi should have claimed asylum lol. If he brought a niece or a nephew they would have to let him in with no background check or even know his name. Nothing against my Hispanic brothers and sisters here. I think a well placed como estas would have gone a long way lol. Somebody has to be sued. You both need to file formal complaints. Seeing as they knew Avi was not going to be allowed in sue for ALL travel expenses at a minimum.

  14. Surprise! Americans have been living in a totalitarian state for the last 50 years(at least) and the American public has been so gullible and were deceived into giving their power up to the state. Look in the mirror my fellow Americans. Your politicians you so wished to believe in sold you out and it is all your fault.

  15. Imagine that; government agents abusing their power. I never would have thought that possible… (Please smell the sarcasm.)

Despite numerous stories like this, so many progressives think the best thing for everyone is MOAR GUBMIN. Also, for future reference, the best thing to do in that situation (if you're ever forced to endure it again), as an American citizen, the only thing you need to say is, "Lawyer." Never answer any questions from law enforcement with anything other than, "Lawyer."

  16. Aloha Sydney, there is no such thing as a casual conversation with the FBI or CBP, when you're on American soil the Constitution is your best friend. It's very important that you understand your civil liberties, the deep state is trying to suppress all opinions that aren't leftist. I saw Avi's unedited interview and its crazy that they would deliberately just make up a narrative. Now that your passport has been flagged it will likely continue so be prepared. While you probably cannot film the interview, post the FBI agents names in the follow-ups, make them respect the Constitution that they swore an oath to uphold.

  17. Sydney you should blame them. The feds (no matter what agency) have an incredible amount of power and nothing to keep them in check. You are not an isolated case. This heavy handedness committed by federal agencies happens all the time, we just don't ever hear about it.

  18. This really should trigger a massive investigation. Why should a media outlet have so much power as to be able to trigger such a response?

    Reply
  19. It is an automatic response. People don't flag you. When you fly to a different country you put in a passport. If you didn't use the same passport you are flagged. Is that what you did?

  20. It's sad when you start seeing connections between our system and books like The Gulag Archipelago. Are we there yet? Absolutely not, but we have to step up now and condemn this because it isn't going to get better.

  28. All Israelis must server in their military once they get to the age of 18. The State of Israel and the Defense Service Law gave the IDF the authority to enlist any and all citizen in 1949. All women and men must serve if they're called to server, this is not a valid reason for what they claimed because anyone from Israel would have been in the IDF. I am from the US and this is not right and I am saddened that this happened to you and Avi. Next time you come to America Sydney, maybe enter in a non democrat controlled state and city.

  29. umm, so they claimed to detain him because he was in the IDF.. As a dual israeli passport holder, isn't participation in the IDF when you reach the age of 18, mandatory? How the cluck is that even a thing worth bringing up by the FBI?

  30. Isn't it ironic that Jim Jefferies and Comedy Central advocate "Open Boarders" yet love to use the law to make false claims to keep people with citizens and visas out. Hypocrites much?

  33. If you have a passport for a country you HAVE to use that passport to enter the country. It is weird that you usually use an Australian passport, but now are using a US one. I had a stack of passports with my family going from the US into Canada, with two dual citizens (American and German) in a car, One American living in the US, One American not living in the US and one German national. She was probably confused because the FBI did not tell her what they wanted. Entering on a US passport changed how things went for you. It is possible they might not even had realized you were an American citizen.
There is nothing anyone could do for you. The man you spoke with told you those were your two options. The FBI would not have told him what was going on.
I am sure that it has happened to others.

  34. All agents of law enforcement will lie to you as a matter of course. Do not believe anything they tell you. Do not rely on any of them for help. Sorry you were treated this way.

    Reply
  35. It isn't even that weird to think that a dual national would leave one country using the passport from that country and then use their passport for the country they are travelling to, most people would expect it to be quicker getting through border control that way.
